How to choose boxing shoes
Redglove no longer sells boxing shoes. Use this guide to compare sizes, soles and collar heights when choosing a pair.
Measure your feet and check the size in centimetres
- Measure both feet while standing and wearing your training socks. Place your heel against a wall and measure to your longest toe.
- Compare the longer foot with the size chart for the specific model. Check whether the chart refers to foot length or insole length.
- When trying the shoes on, make sure your heel stays in place and your toes can move freely. Walk, rise onto your toes and take a few side steps to check the fit.
Compare the collar, fastening and sole
- Collar. A low collar leaves more room around the ankle. A high collar offers more coverage, though the fit also depends on the shape and fastening.
- Fastening. Look for laces that secure the heel and instep comfortably without squeezing the forefoot.
- Sole. Look for grip and flexibility suited to the surface you train on, with enough freedom to pivot comfortably.
If you plan to compete, confirm the event's footwear requirements with your coach.
