Some fights are simply another date on the calendar. Others carry years of training, sacrifice, travel, setbacks, family, gym culture and team work into a single night. On 13 June in Lagos, Ignacio “Nacho” Campos was set to step into one of those nights as a Spanish fighter representing The Black Panther Gym and Redglove on the PFL Africa stage.
The matchup against Wasi “The Nigerian Jaguar” Adeshina was more than a Spain-versus-Nigeria storyline. Campos travelled as the visiting fighter for a high-profile bout in a country where PFL’s expansion represented another important step for MMA in West Africa.

Why PFL Nigeria mattered
PFL Africa is part of the Professional Fighters League’s international expansion. Bringing a major event to Nigeria placed a global MMA spotlight on a region with a deep combat-sports culture, a strong athletic tradition and a growing fan base.
For a visiting fighter, competing away from home changes the emotional environment. Travel, climate, adaptation and a crowd supporting the local athlete all become part of the contest. Campos had to bring his own energy, composure and identity into that setting.

Campos represents a familiar path for followers of Spanish MMA: a gym fighter who has built experience through real competition rather than shortcuts. Competing at featherweight demands speed, conditioning, wrestling, striking and constant control of distance.
His competitive identity is based on pressure and the ability to threaten in more than one phase of the fight. Wins by stoppage, submission and decision show a fighter who cannot be reduced to a single route to victory.

Momentum from PFL Madrid
Before Lagos, Campos had earned an important decision victory over Mathys Duragrin at PFL Madrid. Winning at home brought its own pressure, but it also gave him momentum and confirmed that he could perform under the PFL banner.

Adeshina brought experience, confidence and the advantage of competing at home. His threat could not be reduced to striking alone: pressure, clinch work, wrestling and transitions all had to be respected.
For Campos, the challenge was to make his work clear and decisive in an arena where every successful exchange from the local fighter would naturally receive a bigger reaction.

What the fight represented for Spanish MMA
