It depends on use, body weight, the glove model and your gym's rules. 10–12 oz are common for technique, pads or bag work; 14 oz for mixed training; and 16 oz is common for sparring. Always follow your coach's requirement for sparring.

No. Ounces indicate glove weight, not a standard hand size. The internal fit varies by model.

Try it with your usual hand wraps. Your hand should feel secure without numbness or pressure points, and you should be able to close your fist naturally.

Sometimes, if your gym allows it. If you train frequently, separate pairs are better because heavy bag work gradually compresses padding.

Yes. Use the wrapping or hand-protection system recommended by your coach. It supports the hand and wrist, absorbs sweat and affects glove fit.

Both can work well. A quality synthetic glove can be ideal for beginners; leather is often preferred by frequent users. Fit, padding and wrist support matter as much as the outer material.

Velcro is usually more practical for daily training. Laces provide a very precise fit but normally require help.

Check the specific product guidance because sizing differs by brand and model. If you are between sizes, send us your measurements and the exact product.

For boxing, start with gloves and hand wraps; for kickboxing or Muay Thai you will usually also need shin guards. A mouthguard is strongly recommended for contact work. Your coach may require additional protection.
