Sabai Sabai: Redglove x Ali Kubo, tattooing and combat
Redglove x Ali Kubo presents Sabai Sabai, a collaboration born from two worlds that have more in common than they might seem: tattooing and combat sports.
“I’ve brought together my two passions… tattooing and fighting in the ring.”
Ali Kubo has spent years developing her own language as a tattoo artist while also training in Muay Thai. That dual perspective —working on a piece directly on the skin and understanding training from the inside— is the starting point for this collection created together with Redglove.
From tattooing to combat gear
The idea behind Sabai Sabai was never simply to place an illustration on a garment. The designs were developed with a logic that is very close to tattooing: composition, visual flow, balance and detail. That language is then carried over into the world of Muay Thai and combat sports.
The T-shirt is the first piece we are presenting because we wanted to start showing the project before revealing the full collection. It is only the beginning: the Sabai Sabai universe will continue with a technical T-shirt, Muay Thai shorts, shin guards, gloves and hand wraps.
What does “Sabai Sabai” mean?
Sabai (สบาย) is a Thai word associated with being comfortable, feeling well or being at ease. Repeated as Sabai Sabai (สบาย ๆ), it conveys an even more relaxed idea: taking things calmly, without tension, and letting things flow.
In a fighting context, that idea takes on a special meaning. It does not mean a lack of intensity; it is about staying calm under pressure, breathing, controlling the rhythm and continuing to move. That mix of energy and serenity is part of the concept behind the name of the collection.
The first piece: Sabai Sabai T-shirt
The first release is a black unisex T-shirt with a large gold graphic and details on the chest, sleeve and back. The garment is made from 100% cotton, 180 g/m², with single jersey fabric and a long, fitted cut.
Beyond the T-shirt itself, the aim is to introduce a complete identity: a collection where ink, fight culture and design all speak the same language.
The collaboration on video
In this reel, you can see Ali Kubo talking about the origin of the collaboration and the connection between her two passions: tattooing and fighting.
Sabai Sabai is only the beginning. We will keep revealing the next pieces in the collection as their launch gets closer.
